Come, comfort me, oblivion...

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. It is my hope that he will find peace. Beyond that, I can only turn to the words of greater minds than mine.

Nor I nor any man that but man is
With nothing shall be pleased, till he be eased
With being nothing. --Richard II, Act 5, Scene 5

Peace begins with a smile. --Mother Teresa

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe. --Saint Augustine

Death most resembles a prophet who is without honor in his own land or a poet who is a stranger among his people. --Kahlil Gibran

Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets.--Arthur Miller

A dying man needs to die, as a sleepy man needs to sleep, and there comes a time when it is wrong, as well as useless, to resist. --Stewart Alsop

  1. This is undeed sad to hear brother. We are all so fragile and we cannot escape death.

It is the next stage ... and as you have written elsewhere, "not to be feared."

    Peace,
    Ridwan

  2. I'm really sorry for your friend, his family, you, and all his friends. You've chosen some beautiful words of comfort. I particularly like Kahlil Gibran's.
